I am planning a small getaway and am wanting to stay in a "moderate" Disney resort. (Coronado Springs,Caribbean Beach, Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter. I have stayed at all but Caribben Beach (my mom says it's run down)and I really like both Port Orleans' hotels. Which should I stay at and why?

I ended up at the Coronado. Since they (and Caribbean) were the only ones giving Florida resident discounts for Memoral Day weekend. Thanks guys!

All the resorts have their benefits and which one is nicest, I think, has a lot to deal with personal preference. One of the biggest differences between them is theme, but this is obviously not the most important factor when looking into a hotel.

Caribbean Beach is the oldest moderate resort, so it is not in as good of shape as the others, but it still tends to be pretty popular. There was a time not too long ago when the resort was really struggling and there was question of whether or not they could keep it open. Disney is in the process now of coming up with ways to improve the resort and make it more appealing, as well as working on plans for rennovations. Also, Caribbean is huge, so you definitely want to book the preferred room if you will be staying there. When you are ready to go and excited to get to the parks in the morning, the walk is fine. But after you walk the parks all day, are tired and want to get back to your room, it isn't quite as fun. If it were me, I don't think I would choose Caribbean as my first choice, though many people do love the resort.

Having stayed at the other moderates, I'm sure you realize the benefits of each. My personal favorite is Coronado. I like the theme, I like that is has more options when it comes to dining, service has always been good, rooms clean, etc. The biggest benefit, in my opinion, to Coronado is that it is a conference resort. This means that there tends to be more adults at the resort, which makes it a little more quiet and relaxing. Also, during the day, when people are at parks and the rest of them are in conferences, the resort is really quiet and a great place to relax, a lot of times you have the pool to yourself. Because it is a conference resort, it does have a few little extras to make it a little more like a deluxe resort.

Port Orleans is great as well. Biggest benefit here is the boat to Downtown Disney, it's a nice ride, and very relaxing. Also, the resort grounds is a little smaller, so you don't have as far as a walk for most things. But, it is still big, not small in any means. Also, with the French Quarter you have the nicer pool, which is a big hit for kids, which can also mean more families stay there. Coronado isn't quite as popular for kids with pools and things, but still is a great choice for families. The food court here is also pretty nice, not a sit-down meal or anything like that, but the food is pretty good, considering.

If it were me, I would choose Coronado, just because it is my favorite moderate. But I think the important thing is to decide which one is going to be the best for you.

Good luck with your decision and have a great time!

When you call to make your reservations ask them if the Caribbean Beach has been recently renovated and if so how long ago. We love the theme and in fact it used to be our very favorite back in the early 90's. After our last two unfavorable experiences, however, we decided to choose a different resort. Your mom is right it is run down or it was the last couple of times we were there anyway. On one occasion there was water coming in through the door when the Cast member was washing down the area in front of our room, therefore the carpet was soaking wet. Our entire stay we lived with sloshy carpet......yuck! On the following visit the room smelled so bad the second we walked into it, and in addition to that the toilet overflowed. I'm very disappointed now that I think about it that Disney didn't offer to move us either visit. And at the time we were young novices in travel, we didn't think to demand they move us. Now that we are seasoned travelers we would definitely make aware our disatisfaction. No doubt about that! Some friends of ours stayed at the Caribbean Beach three years ago. Although at the moment I can't remember the details I do know they were also unhappy about their stay.

After about 20 visits to Disney it's still fun discovering new resorts and rediscovering the old ones too. Our last visit we stayed at Coronado Springs. We enjoyed it very much. It's not at all set up with young children in mind but our daughter enjoyed it there anyway. The entire staff was so amazingly nice; I mean everyone. We got better service there than at any of the other resorts including the Contemporary. Their food court is so much better than the others, too. The variety is vast.

For beautiful grounds we also enjoy staying at Port Orleans Riverside. It's so relaxing to stroll through the grounds by the water. The weeping willows on the lazy river make you forget you're in an area of manmade structures. I guess this would be my favorite for that reason alone.

They all have their own special features. I guess it's a personal preference. I hope you find yours real soon. :)

My vote goes for Coronado Springs. It is such a lovely resort. And the dining there (Pepper Market Cafe) is great, as well as the shopping. I love the pool and you can kayak on the lake! I believe it to be the best rennovated resort in the moderate price range at Disney.

Port Orleans...it has the ferry that takes you to Downtown Disney and it's just a very relaxing resort with a lot of charm.

I used to think of i grew to become right into a valuable guy because of fact i grew to become into useful, easy mannered and not hassle-free-working. I later discovered that my introversion made me look creepy and unfriendly, so as that my efforts and artwork have been constantly overshadowed with the help of a few awkward cloud that made others uncomfortable. It wasn't till I discovered the tao of shamelessness that i found out pretend smiles and a noisy voice to mimic extroversion, coupled with some blatant selfishness to demonstrate that I certainly have some form of ambitious character, will do much extra in direction of making me look valuable and approachable than basically doing good deeds, sympathizing with others' confusion or soreness and/or "no longer doing propose issues."
