I know how to but I have never actually done it myself a friend of mine added music on to my iPod. I wanted to know if there is any setting I could change because every time I try to put new music by going to sync music a message comes up. The message says that by putting the new music all other media on the iPod will be deleted. I wanted to know if there was a way of adding music without it deleting what is already on it.

Turn off auto sync. That option is somewhere in iTunes. With auto sync off your iPod won't automatically be updated. That will allow you to keep the songs that already exist on your iPod. But, you must manually update your iPod with the songs from your iTunes. No problem, though, because it is a simple drag and drop of the playlists from iTunes to your iPod.
