Even as money can not buy happiness for certain, it is not possible to be happy without any money either. Money is like salt in cooked food.. no salt, no taste... too much salt, no way to eat... right amount of salt is a must to be happy with the food.

Right amount of money is absolutely necessary to live happily in this world. What is the right amount of money is determined by its purchasing power to provide our unavoidable necessities.

If there were no money in the world, it would be the first thing developed. Without it, there can be no trade, commerce, etc. Money is the means of controlled barter system where values are set on each item by what it is worth to another person.

When we let money become something else, like a god, or a status symbol, is when we get into trouble by trying to accumulate it.

Easily. Happiness is a state of mind and can be moderated purely by self-suggestion. It isn't difficult.... But then I don't know why people are after it all the time anyway. I don't -like- being happy.

Money?
It is a means to an end, but a very useful means to an end. You can barter... but without some sort of set "value" system, people get ripped off far too easily. Not to say people aren't getting ripped off already, but having a currency does help moderate that.

Wealth is the reason for people's fighting, the source of their envy, and the motivation for their deeds. We all need to survive and wealth is how we obtain our basic needs. However, with the negative effects of greed, there is also the benefit of what money can do. It creates structure, order, a source of security and a way to help others when you cannot directly provide a good for them. The answer to your question is NO, we would not be able to survive without money. Even communist countries must have SOME amount of wealth to survive, whether it is spread equally or not.

In certain situations we could live without money. If you can grow your own food, make your own clothes, and create your own shelter, then you could. Also if we went to the barter system, whereby you trade one product for another. I don't know how happy you would be, as these systems call for constantly working.
