Look at the evidence here...They live in a 100 plus degree sandbox year round, they wipe their rear ends with their left hands in stead of toilet paper, they are forbidden from having premarital sex, drinking alcohol is a no no, any type of pornography is considered evil, their women are covered from head to toe in burlap!
They obviously don't think too clearly! Wouldn't you be mad as all hell if you had to endure the above?
They frown upon all of the above but want the power to split the atom!!??
To answer your question, yeah I think they are stumbling in that direction!!
How about renaming Iran, Kaboomistan?

No one is actually going to 'nuke' them. At worst we'll see another Iraq War. That would be bad enough but it's highly unlikely nukes would be used.
It's important to remember that Iran is not a democracy and the people making decisions at the top do not represent their people. The Iranian Government opposes the US and the West on ideological grounds and a lot of what they say is just "talk" and propaganda in order to stay in power. It's hard to know what the Iranian *people* think and also how much of what they believe is influenced by censorship and government spin.
Iran believes that nuclear weapons would protect it from invasion and it believes it has the right to nuclear weapons. If other countries have that right, then they believe they do as well. There is some rationality to that - the only problem is that it's not in the interest of the rest of the world and it's against the terms of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
However, the NNP Treaty has been seriously weakened by inconsistent enforcement. India and Israel - both neighbours and strategic rivals of Iran - have both illegally developed nuclear weapons. The difference is that India and Israel are both democratic nations and allies of the West. Iran feels it has no obligation to abide by the treaty when it has already been broken by others, without any consequences.
Certainly, sitting on the other side, it would seem that Iran's belligerence is not helping it win friends and influence people and is more likely to attract trouble. I guess that the Iranian Government mistakenly believes they will allowed to get the weapons and then they will be safe. Either that or that it's all about stirring up tensions in order to keep the Iranian populace focused on an outside enemy rather than thinking about revolution at home.

No one is going to nuke Iran, the crime doesn't warrant it. However, seizing another countries vessel is an act of war. Iran is deathly afraid of democracy in it's neighbor Iraq, the mullohs and their swiss bank accoutns would be overthrown as their people are already sick of them. But they have the guns so they keep their population at bay. It's another dangerous story of Muslim fanantics platying the western powers as long as they can. The world is going to have to deal with Iran as the outlaws they are. We should do it now.

Not "blindly stumbling," but purposefully marching in that direction. It's a common practice of failing dictatorships...distract the angry population away from you by creating a common enemy outside your borders. That scenario fits the Iranian government to a "T."

Maybe Iran is simply looking at the example being set by America and the UK - if they can do whatever they like why can't we sort of thing.

It is sad that so many people on Yahoo have so much hatred for a foreign peoples of whom they know nothing.
They are no threat to other countries.
They have not invaded another country and show no intention of doing so.
People full of such hatred should take a long good look at themselves and in parlicular the actions of our own governments in slaughtering 100's of 1,000's of completely innocent people in the middle east.
Is your attitude because they are Muslims or simply foreigners?
Collective fear often leads to war whipped up by the media as we have witnessed in our recent history.
Do not fear Iran unless it becomes a threat.
Better to consider the intentions of our own governments which hold the balance of power (and weapons of mass destruction).
God bless.

They are not going to get nuked or invaded...it would be nice..but it'll never happen. They have tested the waters of world opinion and see that they could do just about anything and not much will happen...any sanction would be a negligable impact so as long as there are other rouge nations willing to do business with them.

I hope they don't. To nuke the place just because of the actions of their government seems totally wrong.
I just feel for the poor ordinary people living there who must surely be very nervous right now.

If we go and nuke the entire mid-east region, that will only give legitimacy to their claim that we are the evil dogs that we are. Until we go back to the ideals of Jesus Christ and show Christian love over the hatred of these people, we will always be persecuted as a nation.
