here you have a common factor which is x. Factorize it:
x(x-1)

You can chceck your answer and see that its wrong. Take x=3 for example. Right side will be 3^2-3 = 9-3=6
The right side, according to your answer is 3 therefore Left doen not equal Right.

We can only add or subtract terms which are raised to the same power: a^n+a^n=2a^n

x(x-1)=x
x-1=x/x
x-1=1
x=2

if x^2-x=0
so now x=1

If you think of is as (x*x)-x=? it is easier to visualize and you can see how you can factor out one X and get x(x-1).
