why do some people have removable cast with the walker cast boot, how could i get a walker cast instead of the plaster cast? i never broken my ankle and leg

in the ER they put on the 'half cast' or walker boots at times. Half cast's or removable are to allow for more swelling, then in 3 days time, ortho can put on plaster. If there's an orthopedist in the ER (which almost never happens) they sometimes put on plaster. The half cast works well to imobilize the fracture. If you wanted a walker boot, try medical supply store, maybe even on line. I'm thinking they're pricey.

It depends on the injury. If it is a bad sprain or maybe an ankle break, then a walking cast with a boot will be more likely. If the break is a femur bone, then its an injury that you cannot walk on.
