How do you mean? To stop them coming in altogether? - don't think you can, I'm afraid.

You should get one of those bug catcher things. It's like a box on a long stick that you can pick it up in, then put it outside.

It is very difficult to get rid of spiders, they seem to find the tiniest cracks to get inside. There is a product on the market which uses ultra-sonic sound or waves that is supposed to rid them. You plug it in to the power point. I am not sure if it works or not. Failing that you could get a pest controller to come and have a look for you. Perhaps you need to get some help with the fear of spiders. I know a lot of people have it. I grew up in Australia and seeing spiders of all kinds was a way of life. We just had to get used to them. I have never actually been bitten and I believe Australia has the worlds most deadliest spiders. To my knowledge there are no deadly spiders in the UK. Good luck.

I use the vacuum-cleaner method myself. But sometimes I will use a shoe or slipper.

One thing that might help is to go around your house and seal all the little cracks and crevices, such as around your pipes and the power cables for the major appliances.

After that, once you get rid of the spiders (and their eggs), they won't be back.

Do you have any pets? If not buy a plug-in sonic repeller. It shouldn't harm cats and dogs but it will make spiders rats and mouses little earsies hurty and they will run away. Probably under your shed and attack you everytime you go in there...
Anyway. S'good idea.

They actually keep other bugs in check within your house, so they are useful.
They naturally migrate outside in the warmer weather anyway.

The best way to get rid of them is to use your vacuum cleaner to suck them up.
