i smoke but it doesnt mean im goin to turn in to a crackhead then a criminal, its all about handling it and controlling it,it effects individual people differantly,i dont smoke on a regular but may have the odd joint now and then, but im smart, intelligent and know what im talking about, people who have never tried it are quick to judge thinking everyone who smokes is a bad person and will end up as a criminal or dead..most of the open minded, laid back people i know smoke the herb.im just sick of people who criticise weed smokers when theres worse stuff out there..give us a break..

Weed does lead to harder drugs simply for the reason that's its not available to some people so easily ,
I have purchased my green from some really dodgy dealers in the past ,
I have been exposed to heroine and crack whilst being there.
When the dealer has run out of his weed he may try and push some scag or crack onto you.
If people didn't have to go to such dodgy dives in the first place, they wouldn't be exposed to all the real drugs.
Plus if everyone puts weed in the same category as heroine and crack , new users may well view it as the same.
And its blatantly not , I have smoked weed on and off for over twenty years.
Luckily i know how damaging heroine and crack and cocaine is, and have steered well clear.
I don't take prescription drugs either.
I drink maybe once a month. I'm healthier and in better shape than my pot bellied beer drinking friends.

After reading that, I bet your stoned right now. Have you even read up on what 'smoking' actually does to your brain??
You say most of the laid back people you know smoke the herb... and your point is what??? No wonder they're laid back, that's what you call stoned, you know (killing your brain cells)
I've been in direct contact with someone close to me and watched how smoking marijuana ruined their life.
You have posted on here, to obviously try and get some support, by saying, give us a break, theres worse stuff out there. If that was your attitude about everything in life - the world would be a very dangerous place.

Some people think they know what's best for everybody, when in fact they are only followers, if it were legal and available anywhere at anytime, most would smoke it, although they would argue that fact now.But I know alot of people{friends} that would smoke it if they could but don't because they get tested randomly at their jobs, but if it were legal, they would, and so would most.Like you said, there are a lot worse things going on in this world and the government as a good way of blinding us into thinking that this simple, God given, and natural plant is harmful. Who's to say that this isn't what God wanted us to smoke in the first place, after all it is used in the medical field and it's not loaded with chemicals, like most of the drugs administered to people by their doctors these days, which by the way have some serious side effects. So to thoes who do place judgment.....put that in your judgmental pipe and smoke on that .

Let's get real here folks. This country is wasting a hell of a lot of time and money on a small time drug. Many more lives are lost on alcohol related accidents. I don't smoke pot, and haven't for the past 30 years, but I think if it were legal and taxed, the cops and the court system could spend their time and our money on catching real criminals, and jails would not be full to the brim with people caught smoking or selling something that is no more harmful than tobacco and alcohol. This is the real crime.

The problem is not you, now anyway. But for some people it does lead to different drugs and searching for a better high. And I don't know if you have ever seen or experienced either a family member or friend become a hard core drug addict, but if you did, I guarantee you would never touch a drug again! It not only f**ks up there life but there family's life also.
P.S. I used to smoke.
Your sister is one of the few lucky ones who stay clean. Its more often than not that a drug addict will relapse. Good for her if she stays clean, and I was not comparing, read what i wrote carefully. And I'm sure if your sister knew you where anywhere around drugs she would set you strait, unless she is crazy.

Well said! I smoke the herb and would rather have a quiet night in with a spliff and Yahoo Questions than be popping powders derived from washing powder in some pretentious bar.
I have tried cocaine and thought it was crap and not gone back to it.
Lets not forget, the only things more addictive than illegal drugs are the legal drugs we are taxed to the hilt on.
i'm off to roll. . .

Well, if only smokers could all go to Jamaica...
I used to ages ago, now I'm pregnant and wouldn't dream of it.
Of written many poems whilst high...lol
But then again, we cant infringe it on others or expect people to accept it. They've initially known it to be bad and will always view it as such. There also are people who dont know how to use it...
In a lot of African cultures its used for a lot of medical purposes and works...
Anyway, everyone thinks their entitled to a say in everything... let them talk, you smoke...makes no difference

People condem what they don't understand.
Alcohol kills thirty thousand a year in the U.K. but thats okay 'cus its a good taxable drug.
Schizophrenia???? You morons it has to be in your system for THC to trigger it, you would suffer regardless even if you never smoked.
Gateway??? what are you like? you don't get drunk on cider one night then decide to hit spirits the next.
Americans your declaration of independance is written on Hemp flax. An both the British and Roman empires owe its success to the use of hemp in sails and ropes, (man made fibres rot at sea)
An to all those that "think" they are in control what do you think your in control of? Your the marster of the universe are you? All players on the same stage fools.
Stop judging what you don't understand, who gives you the right??? Judge yourself, you can't judge me you don't have the qualifications.

I totally agree.... The notion that weed leads on to crack/heroin is far outdated in my opinion. People who claim it leads to psychosis have a point but the numbers are so small compared to diseases caused by alcohol or cigarettes that its hardly worth the argument.
Most weed smokers do so without adverse effect to themselves or others - well apart from lack of motivation and munching on too many crisps and biscuits - so I say live and let live.
