I haven't seen the movie, but I doubt that is its point. There wasn't an Iranian civilisation at that point anyway; it was Persian. I don't think the movie makes any real claim to be a serious historical account of the Battle of Thermopylae.

Some of the real facts are below if you're interested.

"The 300" is nothing more than a movie depicting the events of the Battle of Thermopolae. It is not a political movie in the least. Saying that "The 300" is a political movie against Iran is like saying EVERY movie that deals with the American Revolution is a political movie against Britain. Or EVERY Alamo movie is a political movie against Mexico. Newsflash, most Americans are too self absorbed to give a rat's a** about Iran. We really don't even care what's going on in Canada!

In fact, in the movie, the Persian ambassador is obviously African! And so is Xerxes!!! Tell me, are there Africans in Iran? I think not. So it would make more sense if you were complaining that it was a political movie about Africans!

lastly, in case you didn't know, if you had asked 10 average Americans where Persia was, 9 of them wouldn't have had a clue. The only reason they know now is because the Iranian Government and people like yourself are making a big stink.

It's called freedom of speech. Maybe if some unnamed middle-eastern countries had the same concept you would understand.

Then you have not really SEEN the film. If you have, you probably got some pirate copy with a bunch of Islamic propaganda thrown in, or you have heard some eman preach against it and religious people are like sheep who will believe anything that is said to them.

I can guarantee you that not one person in the US who saw this film considered it a precursor flick to an invasion into Iran.

It's based on historical events about a Persian kings who were trying to take over the world. It's said that the earlier kings were actually nice and treated the captured peoples with respect allowing them to continue their culture and religion, but the king portrayed in the movie as well as in reality was not so kind. He was bred on revenge for what the Athens and Spartans had done years before and when he became king, he wanted to take out his vengeance.

As for Iranian civilization... you need to get rid of your current leaders, move towards democracy. You can't progress as a people when you are being held back by a bunch of religious idiots. Which actually the same can be said about the US. You guys had some social movement there for awhile with the parties after soccer games, but you let some nut job take control and you are screwed.

Cuz it is a darn Comic Book ... Ancient Persian culture as depicted in the film bears no relationship to the Iran of today. The Iran of Today is an Islamic Theological Democracy - - - yes its citizens vote, it can be argued that the powers that be limited who they can vote for but in an America where a Congressman must raise & spend an average of twenty-five million to get` the job and where the news medias brags about the 2008 race becoming the first Billion Dollar election, well heck, define De-Mock-cracy in terms that anyone can comprehend.

That said - - - 300 is an entertain action adventure tale with no political message other than what people wish to read into its tale of Jesus Loving (uh, he wasn't born yet) Republician-Democratic Spartans fighting against impossible odds.

Peace...

No. A political movie is "V for Vendetta," which you should see five times. "300" is a goofy piece of t movie that has little, if any, meaning at all, based on a goofy piece of %$#t comic book that nobody should have read.
