2 of my cousins (1 is nearly 40 and the other in her mide 30's) both suck there fingers. The oldest one strokes her cheek while she does it and the other ones twists her hair. Loads of people still have little quirks like that, just don't do it in public. I twiddle my hair when I am feeling really tired or upset or when I am concentrating. My old boss used to go mad me for doing it but I never did it on purpose, just something that happened.

It seems such as you have performed each and every thing you may to objective and quit her finger sucking. i think of you're in all risk desirable in asserting that her father and step-mom's new toddler led to the sucking, for the reason that is a rigidity reaction. Sucking on her arms supplies her convenience, that's a self-soothing mechanism, that's why she does it. It will additionally become a habit, so regardless of if she is not under pressure via that venture, she would desire to nevertheless be doing it purely as a habit. i think of whilst she starts preschool she will in all risk quit sucking on them via herself. whilst she's around all those different young ones she will see that they are actually not sucking their arms, and she or he will sense like she stands out for being the only one that does. That on my own could make her quit. additionally she would be utilising her arms all day and wouldn't have lots time to stick them in her mouth, which will harm the habit for her. purely shop giving her a number of of affection, and with any luck you get custody of your daughter so she will sense that love and help each and all of the time! she will quit quickly adequate, this is just one thing she has to artwork out on her own. between the an prolonged time of four and seven I had a number of truly worrying issues ensue in my life, and that i began out compulsively choosing at my lips, actually till they bled. They took me to make certain a toddler psychologist and each thing, however the psychologist reported it grew to become into purely a rigidity reaction, and that i could finally quit. till then, it wasn't desirable to punish me (or her) for self-soothing for the period of a stressful time. I did finally quit, and so will she. stable success!

No, you're not weird. This is a form of comfort for you....even though we've been taught that we should outgrow certain things by a certain age, not everybody conforms to societys "norm."

everybody has some sort of comfort blanket, whether they admit to it or not.
for some people it's a food, like chocolate; for some, it's drink or fags. For some, it really is chewing your hair or sucking your thumb. when we are distressed, we can regress to the thing that gave us comfort when we were little - in your case, thumb sucking.
for me, it's chocolate.........

Hasn't your dentist told you to stop sucking your fingers because of the damage you're doing to your teeth?

You shouldn't suck your fingers - its unhygienic.
When you grow up you won't want your blanket anymore.
You will want the arms of a good woman!!
