Not really...I find it most effective when I call as soon as I get up in the morning. That way I already sound like crap and I don't have to make any extra effort to sound sick.

I don't have to work anymore but when I did I'd use my sick voice when I wanted a day off.
I did that twice a year.

When I call in sick I'm REALLY REALLY sick. Right now I'm sick (ah-choo!) and I mean that! I've got a really stuffy nose and a sore throat and when I blow my nose only my left eye waters. I DON'T HAVE ALLERGIES!

No - I have a real cool boss who doesn't care why I call out. Plus, he doesn't get to work till 9 anyway...so I just all my co-worker (whom I'm really good friends with) and tell her that I'm sick (wink, wink) and to tell him I won't be in!!!
