No, I like to read a wide variety of material, from non-fiction, like biography and historical, toseveral types of fiction, some classics, some chicklit, some thriller/suspense, some modern literature. There are some types of book that I dislike, for example really cliched, lazy chicklit or autobiographies of 20-something reality tv escapees, but I don't think that makes me a book snob, as I don't look down on the taste of folks who like these types of book.

As far as I'm concerned, disliking a certain genre doesn't make anyone a book snob, it just means you have your preferences. However, pretending you read only certain types of book just to impress does, as does looking down on the reading tastes and habits of others.

No. I like to read almost anything, fiction or non-fiction. I do like for the book to be well-written, however. I like complex plots, unexpected twists and heroes or heroines in my novels. I love psychological thrillers.

I have read one or two of Danielle Steele's books--occasionally she is entertaining, but I think she has chosen to write for people with an IQ of 100 or less. Hey, not a bad idea--she has a wide audience, and at least they're reading something.

I like most of the popular novelists from John Grisham and David Baldacci to Stephen King. Lately, I've decided to read some of the classics that I never read when I was younger. I loved David Copperfield and The Grapes of Wrath, mainly for their social comment.

I don't watch much television--I usually read while my husband watches TV. I keep a book in my car to read when held up by a train or something. I always take one to the doctor's office. I guess I'm trying to say that I love to read. I have a hard time understanding anyone who doesn't.

Define "book snob." I take that to mean people who only read a certain type of book and will criticize other people for reading what they consider "trash." In that case no, I am not. I think that people should read what they enjoy because at least they are reading something. Lol although I have been known to pick on my mom for reading those dime store romances. It's all in jest though.

Not in the slightest. I read all sorts of things from classics to modern popular fiction. I'm enjoying rediscovering some of my childhood favourites whilst reading to my little boy and I collect a series of girl's boarding school books that were written from the 1930s to the 1960s.

If I can't get on with a book though, I can't force myself and there's no real pattern to what I do and don't like. There are a some classics that I just couldn't read as well as loads of modern 'trashy' books. I had to do metaphysical poetry (George Herbert, Andrew Marvell and John Donne) for A level and I hated it though I loved Chaucer and Shakespeare. I also don't like 'fantasy' books but I love Harry Potter!

Only to a certain extent because I am pretty middle brow. I love detective stories and thrillers plus an interesting novel. What I can't stand is badly written books and my pet example for this is Colin Forbes. He has good story lines but his books are filled with cardboard characters who say absolutely innane things to one another. At least, they don't say, they 'rap out'. They always stay in the best hotels but always order ham sandwiches and make a big thing of drinking water. Every t is crossed and every i is dotted. He clearly thinks that we are all morons who must have every single detail explained. I used to write angry comments in the margins before I stopped reading them!

I have not heard this expression. I never used to read women authors but recently have read hundreds and would not be without Iris Murdoch, Fay Weldon, Daphne du Maurier, Rosie Thomas and many similar.

When I was at school in the fifties, I remember being told that it didn't matter what one reads so long as it's well written. I have tried to live up to that ever since, although my personal preference is non-fiction.

No, I love classics but also sometimes just fancy a bit of trashy nonsense, it depends on my mood. For example I have read Crime and punishment but have also read Riders by Jilly Cooper. Embarassing I know, but hey whatever floats your boat.!

To a certain degree, yes. I am quite critical, and I cannot bear reading anything that isn't well crafted. I lose patience if the plot or characters aren't well developed, but that's just me.

No I read anything I fancy reading. Sometimes you want to read 'literary' fiction sometimes you just fancy a bit of trashy nonsense. The only thing I'm snobbish about is idiots who say 'i don't read books - they're boring'.
