Topical as he's celebrating a big birthday this week. I've seen Elton many times over the years but last year, he played Canterbury Cricket Ground & it was the best concert ever. Just him & 5 musicians - no shrieking backing vocalists & horn section. It was magical & I really didn't want the evening to end. He was truely at his very best. Happy Birthday Elton!

Flogging Molly at Sonar in Baltimore. The energy they play with is just unbelievable. You'd have to experience it for yourself because there's no way to really describe it. I've also seen Journey, Def Leppard, Staind, Live, 3 Doors Down, Linkin Park, Stabbing Westward, Hank Williams III, American HiFi, Early November, Sugarcult, Hawthorne Heights and some others. Nothing compares to FM though.

A great concert has to be a great show first I think. So even if I sound silly saying that, the Spice Girls show on SpiceWorld Tour I saw in Paris in 1998 was the best show I have ever seen, with loads of costumes and dance routines. Lately, I;ve seen Kylie Minogue in a great show too. That are the two best concerts I have been too, now I have seen good rock baand gigs too (Placebo, Muse...), but they're not concerts to me.

I've seen Journey, Aerosmith, REO, Heart and a variety of other great acts. Surprisingly, the absolute best concert I ever went to was by a little cheesy band called The Jets. They had a handful of pop hits in the mid-80s and I went only on the begging and pleading of my ex-wife. As it turned out, they put on an incredible show. Of course, I never admitted that to my ex-wife.

for me, a good concert has to be in an intimate venue and although Ive seen a few megastars playing packed out stadia and arenas, Id have to say that the best concert Ive been to was a Dodgy concert, in a small pub in York, around 12 years ago
