I did that in the late 60's, when I was 9 years old, my dad was in Japan, he had brought back us kids transistor radios, my older brother told me that there was a little man in the radio playing records, thats how the radio worked......I took it apart, found out there was NO little man in there, so my radio was broke & never got put back together again.

Yes ! .....i also like buying appliances , coupling them up and waiting till they smoke and spark , and then i read the instructions...
