They will weigh you, have you give a urine sample. They might first do a pg strip test with the urine and then a protein test to watch for diabetes. They will take your blood pressure. Then they will have you undress and wait in the room.
Most of the time they will do a routine dr apt with a pap smear and check for breast cancer lumps. My dr would also test for a range of things like chlamydia and other cervical issues so they know what they are getting into throughout the pregnancy. They will give you prenatal vitamins and sometimes a pregnancy q&a book. They will ask if you have any questions (so write them all down so you wont forget the question and then the answer)
Congrats!

They're just gonna do a pap smear (they scrape you but you barely feel it. It feels a little weird but doesn't hurt too bad) and a pelvic exam for this first visit (your doctor will feel around your outer abdomen as well as inside). They'll also more than likely take blood and ask you lots of questions. It's a fairly easy visit this first time around especially since you're so early in your pregnancy (congratulations by the way!) and they'll ask you back in about 4 weeks. Every time you go, they're gonna ask for a urine sample and weight you...usually. They're probably gonna give you lots of pamphlets and may decide to give you some vitamin samples before they perscribe you any so you can see which ones agree with you. Also, If they treat you rudely or badly in any way or you feel uncomfortable, get away while you're still early on in your pregnancy!

Well my first appointment was pretty quick! He just did a pap smear which took 2 minutes, weighed me, made me pee, and let me hear the heart beat. Of course every girl wants the ultra sound and everything like right away! But I doubt that will happen ;-)...The first appointment is basically to check you first, then from there, the doctor should give you your appointment for the ultra sound, give you the prescription for your prenatal vitamins, and give you the paper work to get the blood exams. Every doctor is diffrent but thats basically it. Goodluck!

It differs at different OBGYN offices.
At my first all they did was take my health history, urine and blood samples. This was at 7 weeks
It was my second appointment when they did the PAP smear and more urine samples this was at 10 weeks
The third consisted of yet more urine, more blood and I got to hear the babies heartbeat. This was at 12 weeks
Now every appointment is coming on a monthly basis and they consist of... you guessed it, urine tests and listening to the heartbeat.
I also just had my AFP testing... which is another blood draw

I have 2 kids and one on the way. i went to every appt my wife had. the first meeting is nothing but Q & A. You have to pee in a cup and maybe get some blood drawn. if you are only 5-6 wks then they shouldn't try to listen for a heart beat cause it's way to early.

you should expect to get your weight checked, a pap smear and if you haven't already done it a blood test.
