What is the way forward in Indian Cricket? Is the three team policy(ODI's,20/20&tests) a solution to our mess?

The world cup 2007 has demonstrated that the men who are running cricket in India are obsolete in the way of thinking.

The BCCI totally disregarding the logic of selecting horses for courses selected a team of advertising superstars well past their prime in terms of current demands of ODI's.

The thinking of committee of ex captians like Vengsarkar, Gavaskar, Shastri can be very predictible.They will back players like Sachin to the hilt even when the whole world knows how he chokes under pressure always and is way past his prime.

They will restrict the selection of new faces and youth to just for namesake and look at the first opportunity to use their contacts in the media to make these new faces fail so that they can reintroduce the old players.

Make no mistake the old faces will be back even in test matches these guys will be selected. Now we are entering an age of 20:20. So all three formats are different and will be needing different sets of skills to play and adapt.

The people who could not select one good team to play the world cup, how can we depend on them to select three teams ? It is going to be a total mess.
I suggest that first we fire all the selectors and administrators, and select the selectors, people with good judgement, committement and responsibility,and then we allow the selectors to select one good team, just one, not three. nowhere in the world there are 3 teams. We need just one good team that performs to win the world cup. I can bet that india will end up with three looser teams, ready to blame others, not taking any responsibility and not one bit committed.

But Sri lanka even droped even Jayasuriya.

Though they beat india They still had to give their best ever performance..When Robin Uthappa and Sourav Ganguly walked in, India had a target of just 255 runs, on a wicket which had dried and gone flatter. But nobody showed the determination to stay on, except Dravid. It was his flurry of fours off Malinga in one over that had raised the hopes of Indian fans just for a while.
It is most certain that the turning point was Sachin’s getting out to Fernando, through the gate for a duck. He was supposed to be siniormost player.That was a vital blow. India could not recover. The panic button was pressed.Whhy are they so scaredy cats?
They can not chcken out like that.
The administration & proper selection commitee would have done the trick.
So ultimately... Whatever little chances India had went up in flames when Yuvraj was run out foolishly.
They think always about publisity & money making at the cost of selfless Indian fans.

It is really worth analysing the difference between the two teams from the sub-continent. India’s strength was batting and given the proper conditions, their medium pacers and the spinners could be devastating. If not, their shoulders start drooping and the bowling goes haywire with all kind of experimentations. It could happen to the batting too.

Exactly opposite are Sri Lanka, except that their batting is as good if not better. We were the big brothers when they started. Now they are the elders. What an irony. They are better fielders for sure, and the bowlers bowl to the field under any circumstances unless it’s a completely off day for them.

Muralitharan is just outstanding. And most importantly, they play as a team and not as individuals. And that’s the thin line that differentiated the two teams. We saw absolutely no regional biases, despite all kinds of problems in their small country.
But they now have to beat only 3 teams to advance easyly to much awaited semi finals.
We have to think how to go ahead not blaming each other.

First of all, india need a new team. A new team that inclused all youngster, all young flush. Rahul, sachin, ganguly, agarker should be dropped from the team for good. Therefore, youngsters can make their way in. Second of all, India should play more games outside india than playing inside. The reason is that Indian cricket tend to be tigers when they are home, and cats when they go oversees. In order to change this, they should learn to play under pressure and different atmosphere. In order to acheive this, they should play more outside india.

I agree 100% with the questioner.Professional approach is the need of the hour.It can be done by appointing specialists like IAS or MBA professionals, and.....
Throw out each and every officials of our cricket control board.
I am really not able to understand their merit,why they are in that place?
What is their contribution towards the game of cricket?
They are responsible for selection and sheltering such useless players.
Unless they are removed, nothing good will happen.

What I feel that India should select a set of about 30 talented youngsters and groom them up by giving proper training and international exposure. They should also make 2 teams consisting the youngsters and make them play with the present squad couple of matches in different type of pitches. After these matches, the performance of these players should be assessed and promoising youngsters should be inducted to national team. They should also build up a bench strength from these youngsters and they should be given opportunity by rotational basis.

2 or 3 team formula is all humbug. Only one good team must be made with at least 4 complete all rounders like Gary Sobers & 5 stand by players available all the time. That is sufficient. Those who never played cricket at street level even , talk of horrible new ideas.

Hey during the league matches i used http://www.action8cricket.com they were awesome specially there support i mailed them 3 times and got answers within 30 mins intially there picture quality was pathetic but now what i saw in last 5 games was truely appreciatable hope they continue the good work hats off to the quality and support.
