Native American people are Indigenous people of North America. You can extend to South America, Central America as well, depends on how you look at it.

There is really no "in your words". We cannot choose the defination, it is simple.

Anyhow, I'm a Native woman.

Its a matter of time I suppose. After all the 'American Indians' also moved into the region at some time or other. So who were the 'American Indians' before they moved in? Probably going a bit of track, but its not that simple.

Its rather like Australia, where the current 'Indigenous' population are described as the traditional owners. However, there is sufficient evidence to show that a more advanced civilisation existed before the current ones.

South America gets even more complicated, as entire advanced civilizations have disappeared and been replaced by more primitive ones.

So who is the traditional owner'???
