I am a born again optomist, I used to be quite the pessimist but over time I ralized that it was denying me the peace and happiness I knew that I wanted out of life. I realized that you can't change a lot of things, but you can decide whether you are going to be miserable or at peace by looking for the silver lining in every situation. That doesn't mean that you stop using your brain, far from it. Yes crap happens, you do what needs to be done, learn the most from your mistakes, share those lessons with others then move on.

I consider myself an realistic optimist. While I tend to look on the bright side, I'm also a realist - I don't assume everything will turn out for the best, and accept the things that don't. Some optimists hang their hat exclusively on wishing and hoping that things turn out ok.

I also look like pessimistic.... but deeper analysis tells me that nobody is pessimistic to the core, because life is lived only by hope... anyone who gets to 'zero-hope' condition would commit suicide... the so-called pessimistic people like you and me are simply doubting Toms and not 100% pessimistic.

Optimist about life in general, though I'm pessimistic about certain things.I go away from pessimism because I feel sick when I think of giving into those feelings. That sickness must mean something. All we really have is our instinct,so that's what I follow.

I'm pessimistic.. I'm always thinking about the bad stuff that could happen instead of focusing on the good things that have happened..

Read my name....
I understand everything in existence is devoid of worth or purpose... that those very notions are human fallacies... subjective artefacts....
"Failure" is subjective itself, and effectively meaningless if one does not grant it meaning.
I charge into war expecting to lose but determined to excel (not necessarily to win, but at least to deny victory to the enemy), and I come out alive and wearing more scars than anyone else (irrespective of who got the highest kill-count).... and I wear those scars with pride. Does pessimism lose all meaning when one takes pride in failure? What if my every action goes ahead (without giving up) just to spite fate itself?
That glass is half-empty.... but if I keep spitting in it, it will fill up again.
[ Incidental note: Optimists sicken me. Seriously. I take great pleasure in making their lives hell until they get their heads down from the clouds and realise it is still raining down here on Earth. ]

I'd describe myself as realistically optimistic. Being an atheist I don't expect miracles for the world or my life but I don't find either of these things to be hopeless.

Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
Kind of a yin-yang thing.
I'm an idealist with a realistic edge.
Peace

let's say that I'm more realistic; thus, I'm optimistic or pessimistic according to the situation.
