1) avoid religion, or if you look into religion, look into a few
2) read books, not websites
3) buy a dictionary and read it cover to cover. also use it whenever you come accross any work you don't understand.
4) get an encyclopedia if you can afford it.
5) get a library card, and use it.

Try dropping a few words like "Chomsky" "Semiotics" and "Postmodernist irony" into your conversation and you might get a rep as an intellectual.
It will help if you drink a lot of Absinthe and say, "Well, if it was OK for Mallarme and Rimbaud, it is OK for me"
Don't do this if there is a genuine intellectual about, you will get exposed and humiliated.

Intellect is something you've either got or you haven't. You can work very hard and accumulate a lot of knowledge and information....even qualifications.....but these things alone do not mean you're intellectual. Intellect is a lot to do with how you view and process ideas etc.
