Lazyjbob, the British and most of their colonies spell favorite with a "u"... so if you happen to be... I'm going to go with Australian like the guy asking this question, you would spell favourite... armour... colour etc....

Not hard to tell that you are not Canadian. I am a Flyer fan but while being Canadian, I find it funny how Americans will say your favourite NHL "ice" hockey team. We just go by the assumption that there is ice and say hockey team. To ramble further, it is kind of like how Americans say "I'll have a tunafish sandwich" whereas in Canada we would just say tuna sandwich, knowing/hoping that it is indeed fish.

Well, nobody can really agree/disagree since its YOUR favorite NHL hockey team.
But if you're asking about MY favorite hockey team, it would be the San Jose Sharks. And since the Sharks and Yotes are rivals, i probably won't be chosen best answer! :)
I love everything about them. I think they have an awesome group of forwards in Marleau, Thornton, and Michalek. They have a nice young defense core in Erhoff, Carle, and Vlasic. They have true team player goalies in Vesa and Nabby. The shark tank is nice, the teel colors are unique and their black 3rd jerseys are just cool. A Stanley Cup this year would just make everything complete!

Detroit Red Wings. Arguably the strongest dynasty team over the past decade. 3 Stanley Cups. Several President's Trophies. Great Front Office to keep new talent. One of the longest streaks for consecutive playoff years. Unlike Colorado, who died out after their nucleus left.

Favorites are a matter of opinion.
I've been a Leaf fan since I could hold a stick.
I still remember the first time I got a Leaf sweater and I pulled it on. I was 5 at the time.
We can't agree on who we cheer for but we have to agree hockey is great.
