i've had CIH (the one active on 26 april) back in 1998 i think. it ruined my BIOS. it was a mess in that day, all the computer shops were closed but i was lucky they resolved it for free. most of the customers paid about 10 $ for cleaning and restoring. right now i have a free antivirus, i've had some problems but nothing that could damage the system.
