The days of Reagan were dark and produced the Dead Kennedy's greatest works, for example. Now, things are even worse, yet music has become rather apolitical.

That's an awfully bold statement there missy. Music hasn't become apolitical, your just not listening to the right stuff. Although, where is Refused when we need them?

International Noise Conspiracy are great but they do kinda lack the political and musical punch to the crotch of their former incarnation.

burningheart.com has some of the best in new punk so check it out.

as long as bad religion are still recording, i'm alright. after 27 years they are still rocking hard and getting their message out. Dr. Graffin, Mr. Brett have been the most important band in punk music since the 80's ended. this summer they headline the warped tour playing mostly to a teenage crowd. hopefully these guys who are old enough to be the parents of most of the crowd will help spread the old school punk rock message.

punk died and then was brought back to life by the corporations that run the music industry. It's a sad thing, but it's true... and to think some people actually believe that good Charlotte and SUM41 are the best punk bands ever.. if Sid was alive today he would just kill them all

There never have been any great punk bands.

I love the Dixie Chicks tho! True Americans, not afraid to speak the truth!

Thats because the punk scene has turned to "emo". It is no longer "cool" to be defyant of the goverment but it's cool to be sad& depressed...

That's because music is all about money and political songs hurt cash flow.
