On this list Hendrix is by far the best. But I think you could easily make a case for others such as Eric Clapton, Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhodes, Steevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Page, and Pete Townsand just to name a few.

Nice list. I would also add Eddie Van Halen, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton.
The greatest I ever heard live is 12-string master Leo Kottke.

yngwie is a good technicalguitarist, but he sucks. he worries about doing everything so right, his music just gets tired and sucks. of your list, jimi is by far the greatest, but my personal fave is Pete Townshend. he is one of the most versatile guitarist ever. he can play rock, folk, country, techno. he plays loud, really loud and still plays soft. his acoustic work is some of the finest ever. he is so much more than a guy who just smashed guitars to pieces.

Someone who was WAY before his time. Jimi
But I would give crecence to Joe Satrioni. Smooth Groove? With a sassy style.
