Not with a car door, but my oldest son did manage to cut off about 1/2 inch of finger on the swing-set when he was only three.
There was a grasshopper up on the part where the glider connects to the main bar. He was standing on the glider trying to catch it when his friend started the glider moving. Off came the finger.
There was just a bit of skin by his fingernail holding his finger on, and at the hospital they reattached it. The way it grew back though, it looks like he has 2 fingertips.
He's also had a ruptured spleen from playing basketball, and he shot himself in the foot. I guess some people are just accident prone.

My hubby is a mechanic and he was doing an MOT on a car when the ramp slipped, sure enough it took approx 1/2 inch of his middle finger.OK it was not a door but just as painful. He had to have an operation to remove another part of the finger and it was the garage's fault, and NO he did not claim compensation,he loves his job too much..........

I did it this past weekend.Could not believe it could possibly happen!!! I have shut my hand in door plenty of times in the last 40 years .never lopped it completely off in a car door. In a hurry as i always am. best advice I can give .Do not be in a hurry. always be careful. After all my friends have seen the result they all are watching them selves .I am still In disbelief that this can happen.I now have a constant reminder.

my 1 year old son cut two fingers off clean last month, he has a habit of slamming doors. It was awful. His grandad, when he was a kid lost a finger whilst messing around in a tree.
