I've sold many thousands of items on ebay and some people will always want a refund no matter how well you describe your item and how well you outline your return policy.

You have to decide if it's worth it to fight over the item. Being right or wrong doesn't seem to matter to consumers.

Before there was an Internet, the law was that if anyone bought something through the mail, they were entitled to a refund if returned within 30 days, without any reason. On eBay, a customer should be entitled to a refund if not completely satisfied unless you state empahtically "no refunds". I would do the refund if 1) you can afford to, 2) that you were notified in the time period allowed, and 3) if you do not want any negative comments posted about you (make sure that they agree to post something positive if you refund them).

My son once gave a refund and the customer did NOT return the item. But my son ate the loss because he did not want any negative comments posted about him. However, he does alot of online business.

If you are a regular seller, give the refund. If you sell once in a blue moon - then it wouldn't matter. Also, if you are a regular seller, just list teaser items on eBay, and have an offline store with all of your other items (you can put a link on the About Me page). When you put such things in writing then it is up to you to honor it. offering a refund means just tat. You have been notified in the time aloted.

If you do not want to refund then why did you say you would.

When you sell such items you definately should say as is and that means you buy it it is yours.
