My door is never shut so I look to see who.
They have to stop at the gate first and either speak to us or ring the bell. The gate is not locked but if anyone opens it without one of us there the dg gets a little violent.
Even the big tom cat will let a stranger know that it is not nice to just walk in.
The little village I live in is quite safe but it is nice to have the dog around.

I hide. I don't even go to the door. 4 dogs are barking and the TV blaring. Go Away. I own both sides of that door and I never invited anyone today. Rough, but that's me.

I definitely ask who it is, and if I don't get proper identification from them, or am suspicious in any way, I get my gun and blow a hole through the door
