My family and I are moving to Orlando in May so that my husband can go to culinary school. Does anyone have any information on the area around the school, places to live, schools for my kids, things to do?? Any information would help a lot since we are kinda moving blind. Thank you

Seminole County (the suburbs of Orlando) is a good place to focus on. Try looking up towns like Lake Mary, Longwood, Altamonte Springs...The school system is the best in Central FL and it's far enough from the parks that there won't be tons of tourists but close enough that if you wanted to spend a day at the theme parks you could and wouldn't have a difficult drive home (only about 45minutes depending on where you lived). Good luck!

I would aviod kissimmee. It dirty and touristy. Dr.phillips if you can afford it is really nice. Olympia high school isnt bad. and chain of lakes middle. All the same school zone. Waterford lakes area is nice. They are alot of college kids because ucf is close but its a good area. You can get affordable homes with some land. Windermere is a good area too.

If you decide to move near his school. Millenia mall area be CAREFUL. There is a small distance where nice becomes trash. Thoughs places are NOT safe. The mall looks good and is expensive but there is a huge crime rate.

Not to scare you about this place. Its not all bad and there is crime everywhere. You really need to research areas. Ive always lived here and nothing has ever happend to me knock on wood.

Living in longwood altomonte and surronding areas is a difffrent life. Its calmer I think because its not in the center of everything it the suburbs of orlando.

Driving here is terrible. So try to move somewhere were you are close to school and work. (within 10 miles) Aviod moving where you would be using I-4 or 408.

I dont know your kids ages but I would look into all the schools. Its going to be important. Because all the areas with crime are so close to the good areas the school zones sometimes include More kids from the bad than the good. That will really hurt there education because the school is always dealing with problems. Check into school ratings to see if they are A schools or F.

Hope this helps a little. You will learn after being here a month what area will work for you.

I assume your going to Orlando culinary academy? If that's the case check out some of the condos and town homes around the mall at milllenia area, it's close to the school and becoming an excellent area. If your looking for a house Kissimmee is a great choice it's closer to the school than the other areas in the first post like lake mary and Seminole county.

i might want to aviod kissimmee. It dirty and touristy. Dr.phillips in case you'll take care of to pay for that's somewhat passable. Olympia accurate college isnt undesirable. and chain of lakes center. each of the equivalent college zone. Waterford lakes field is passable. they're alot of company little ones thinking the reality that ucf is close to notwithstanding its a nicely field. you'll get low fee homes with some land. Windermere is a nicely field too. If making a range to shipping close his college. Millenia mall field be careful. there's a small distance in which passable will change into trash. Thoughs places aren't any more reliable. The mall seems nicely and is pricey notwithstanding there's a large crime fee. no longer to scare you about this example. Its now no longer all undesirable and there would nicely be crime everywhere. You somewhat might want to study places. Ive continually lived ideal right here and by no potential some thing has ever happend to me knock on timber. residing in longwood altomonte and surronding places is a difffrent life. well I figure you will get enough info about where to go, so I am going to tell you where to AVOID:

BAD crime areas:
METROWEST or anywhere too close-by

SANFORD or anywhere too close-by

POINCIANA--that is pretty far south anyways

My best recommendation is live close to the school, because Orlando traffic is KILLER. It can take 30 minutes just to drive 3 miles sometimes!

Don't know if you are going to Orlando Culinary or Cordon Blue (bleu), but best of luck to you. My friends daughter is in Cordon Blue and loves it! She works at Sea World and they contribute towards her tuition!

Happy moving!

If you call the local places, like court houses, libraries, ect. they will be able to give you a good idea on where the best places are for you and your family.
