There have been very few upsets this year. The Elite Eight had 4 one-seeds, 3 two-seeds, and 1 three -seed. Both final four games will be a one-seed versus a two-seed. No sleepers made it nearly as far as they could have, and quite frankly, every game has seemed exactly the same. A team takes a lead and then during the second half, the other team comes back and wins it(Texas A&M Corpus Christi vs. Wisconsin, Tennessee vs. Ohio State, UNC vs. Georgetown). Frankly, I have been bored by the tournament as none of the games have been of interest to me. My UNC Tarheels even made it to the elite eight and I was still bored. My local VCU Rams beat Duke and the tournament still sucked.
Anyone else agree or have a different opinion?

I agree with you. For me, the worst part of it was the fact that UConn wasn't even in it, but even if they won it it still would've been a bad tournament.
1) There weren't too many first round upsets. Then there weren't any big second round upsets. Then there were no Sweet Sixteen upsets. And then the Final Four turns out to be two number one seeds and two number two seeds.
2) The games were generally the same. There were a lot of comeback wins. I also remember watching the end of Kansas-Southern Illinois and Texas A&M-Memphis back to back. Both games had small leads and one last second shot from almost half-court at the end that missed. So much for variety. There were a lot of other games in the same round that seemed identical. An example would be UNC-USC and OSU-Tennessee. Both teams were down big (16 and 20 points resepectively), and came back and won. I even lost both my bracket's championship teams the same day (UNC and Oregon).
3) There were no big stories. In the good tournaments, there's usually a few big stories about a few teams and players that fuel their runs and keep it interesting. Not this year. Unless you like Georgetown.
4) Nothing happened. It was just a bunch of games this year. Don't we expect more by now?
5) The inexperienced fans dominated the bracket scene this year. Any seasoned fan knows that the chances are very slim that the seedings of this years final four teams will actually be in the final four. Only newer fans predict just about no upsets. They beat my bracket this year, and I'm sure they beat yours too.
Bottom line is, I agree with you.

A couple years ago when UConn played Kentucky in the final. Both teams are historically good. But those two teams were a 7 seed vs. a 9 seed. A 7 vs. a 9 in the final is embarrassing for the sport. Something similar to that would never happen in another sport

HEY JOHN.....i know what you mean with the fans who pick no upsets, but i have been doing them for 10 years and im tied for second with gtown beating UF for the title and i will win i that happens, so no, they didnt beat my bracket. i also dont see how you could complain about super close games that come down to the wire just because they end in a similar way......close games are what we want. UNLV was an upset in the second round. and what do you mean by, "nothing happened, it was just a bunch of games this year." ummm, that is what it is every year, a 64 teams tournament decided by games. haha, that is the weirdest thing ive ever heard. did you mean their werent any upsets or cinderella stories? i love those stories too, but if that is the only thing that keeps people interested in the tournament, then they must not like basketball.
I love upsets, but I cant believe i keep hearing this from people. Look how many games have gone to OT or right down to the wire. Also, when teams are up by 20 and the other team comes back, that is exciting.....would you rather see a 40 point blow out (well....i would have because im a vols fan! hahaha). But even with UT blowing that game, I have really enjoyed the tourney this year. I watched the UNC vs. Gtown game in georgetown the other night (live in DC)....and it was unbelievable...i thought UNC had that game on lock until they went cold.
anyways, the bottom line is people are used to upsets and cinderella stories, so when we dont have any, people get bored with it. I would argue that this has been one of the most competitive tournaments ever. Look at all the last second shots, controversial calls to decide games, overtimes, coaches playing their old schools, classic rematches, recent rematches. I think the comittee did the best job ever seeding this tournament, and it could not have been more entertaining. Although we didn't have many upsets, we still got to see duke go down in the first round to a mid-major........if that's not pleasing, then i dont know what is.
we had ben howland of ucla go up against pitt (used to coach there)....same thing with thad matta and osu vs. xavier. UCLA gets their rematch with Florida from last year's national championship. The classic UNC vs. Gtown rematch from way back. I could go on and on and on, but like i said, just because the tourney lacks a cinderella story doesnt mean it is not competitive and entertaining. I cant remember ever seeing such a competitive tourney as far as close games and most teams having a shot at winning in the last five minutes. 4 great teams are left and this weekend will be as entertaining a final four as you will remember (i hope). another interesting thing about this years tourney is that it is kind of cool to finally see most of the seeds who are supposed to win, actually win. you know, for once, why not see something like that. like i said before, basketball fans have been spoiled by all the years of upsets and cinderella stories and when we finally have a year without them, everybody seems to say/think that it was a bad tourney. i disagree.

I think it has been a very good tournament. We don't have a crappy team like George Mason in the final four. That is a good thing! We want the best playing the best to decide who the best team is. Upsets are fun and all, but in reality they take away from the whole idea of deciding who the best team is.

I haven't watched a single college game all year until the tournament. I have been highly impressed with the quality of play. The Big teams have been playing Big. Big come-backs, close games, overtime, game-winning shots at the buzzer - if you don't think this is exciting basketball just because the top teams haven't faltered, then I have to vehemently disagree.

The tournament is to see which team can play the best ball, and if the top seeds can play, well, they deserve it. Except for Florida, and Kansas the best teams are there.
The tournament is a great time to enjoy, and I've been doing that.

Even with my favorite team out -- KU -- and my alma matter out -- Oregon -- it's been a fantastic tournament!
Lots of close games and a re-match of last year's title game. How could that not be exciting?
