It has to be the most amazing piece of art I have seen in the sky thus far! I live in NJ and was just outside about 20 minutes ago (5:40 A.M.) and was totally taken back by this almost electrified green shooting star! I have never seen something like this before which prompted me to research this! It was truley amazing and I am grateful I got to experience such a beautiful site!

From what I have researched - these are rare but do happen as yes it has to do with the elements and having copper in it could cause the green color. All in all - I don't really need an explanation - was just curious and it was AMAZING!

I also saw a green shooting star maybe 4 years ago. It was big and had a long tail, and broke into two green sparks that broke into smaller green sparks. It shot behind a small tree in our garden but I could still see it through the leaves. My brother saw the same thing and he was 48 miles away. It was very beautiful. Six years ago I also saw a green shooting star but it was not as big. I was in the stadium at that time, and the lights blurred it. But a few people also saw it.

I've seen a green shooting star this morning on my walk in the dark (~6:10 am) on the south side of Lexington, KY. It was 3-4 houses up from where I was walking and extinguished about half way down the height of the house. It was the closest I've ever been to one and my first green one in life! God is so cool with His beauty!

cool. i saw a fireball meteor during the day once several years ago. it was a very strange sighting. i've only seen a couple of meteors with notable green colors. a draconid meteor a couple of years ago was the most notable for me. to me most are hard to notice color, other than white. but i usually don't observe from the best locations (light pollution)

I saw one tonight, 12/17/13 around 8:20 pm in the South East sky just above the horizon. I live in rural East Central IL. I was traveling South on Rt. 130 just left my Girl friend at work in Urbana at Walmart when I saw the biggest meteor/ shooting star falling at a 45 degree angle from the East to the South it seemed in slow motion. Huge sparks and chunks flying off as it descended, very bright green. The size was about if you held a penny between your thumb and index finger and extended your arm as far from your eye as possible and held the penny up to the sky and moved it at a 45 degree angle east to south, it was that big. Lasted around 2 to 3 seconds. By far the most amazing meteor spectacle I've ever seen.
