Keira Knightley played Queen (later Senator) Amidala. In Star Wars 1, this was not a major role.

Elysiumsangel is wrong. Keira Knightley was indeed in The Phantom Menace but she played the double for Natalie Portman, who played Queen Armidala. When The senator (later queen) was in danger one of the hand maiden ladies dressed up as her, while the queen was disguised as the maiden, who was shot and died when disguised. (the maiden died btw not the queen, just saying coz that sentence when reread it can go either way.lol)
