Pls advice on the advantages of both and help me choose one.

Laser won't smear. It's more waterproof. Laser prints in black and white and it can run you about 20 cents apiece. Plus the hardware costs of a Laser. Toner cartridge will run you about $100/new, and refurbished cartridges only give a halflife duration. There is a felt rub-off bar with toner Lasers that becomes critical and hard to keep clean. I got over 600,000 copies from my original Apple LaserWriter and sold it still running.
You would have to get a wax Laser to do color prints.
An Inkjet, you should first wander over to the aisle with the cartridges. Sometimes when the printer is inexpensive, the cartridges are a whopper of a shock. Our InkJet has one 3-color cartridge and one Black. Cost is around $60. The Inkjet will not run if one or the other cartridge is empty.
Pay no attention to the "average count" of pages per refill ink or "sheets per minute". They get that count by printing pages with only 25% coverage.

Laser has a better black and white quality. Check out the toner or cartridge prices before buying. Nowaday, the manufacturer is smart to sell you a cheap printer and then you need to buy the cartridge at half of the price of the printer.
Look for refill for the printer. Some brands like HP do not allow refill for the cartridge.

It depends on how much printing you will be doing. The Lasers are more expensive than the inkjets, and the cartridges are more expesive as well. But the laser will print much faster and the cartridge will produce many more pages the inkjet. If you want to print in color, then unless you want to spend a bundle on a color laser then the inkjet wins.

Buy the Inkjet printer because it is cheaper, Laser is quite expensive and the ink cartridge of laser is also very expensive.
According to my personal experience buy HP ink jet only.

I will advice to buy a Laser printer. But color laser printers are cheap. In comparison to ink jets, laser printers are quieter, faster and remarkably hassle free. but they cost higher than inkjets. So it is your choice.
