Is it of some real help or you just use it as a recreational activity.

sometimes if i wanna know something urgent i will go and ask in the correct serious section but here on P&S its just a laugh and relaxation time! xx

It is very helpful, an activity yes but it could mean the difference between life and death if you think about it. If we could ask the right questions then mankind could find out the answers to any question. Believe it or not but the cure for cancer lies in asking the right questions. Life is so simple that scientists and medical investigators have marvelled at how simple the cures have been to some diseases or theories that have evaded answering for hundreds of years. If for example you asked me a question that I could only answer yes, no or it is irrelevant then you could find out the answer to anything that I know. Hide a ball in your house and then answer my questions and in a very short time I can tell you exactly where the ball is if of course you are being truthful and I would not ever have to step foot inside your house. That is how powerful questions and answers could be if we really were able to make it work by asking the right questions and by getting honest answers. So yes it is pretty helpful but most of us just use it to pass the time as a recreational activity. Have a helpful day.

I have learnt a lot about human nature of all ages from this site. I find that, MOST interesting.
I do get some knowledge; both from answers and from Qs for which I have done some research that perhaps the questioner could have done ;-)
That way I have spent time on learning on other sites. Apart from the Q.
Oh and it is very addictive. Start answering, as I am doing now, and you forget the time. So sometimes I take a break and vanish.

Polls & Surveys is an interesting and fun way to pass the time. i have had serious, and helpful information from other catagories, as well as from P & S. but none of the others have the all round factor like here

it has helped with lingering Qs like- How do seeds know which way is up? and- How far does the US extend upward and downward?. Aside from being a time killer and slightly improving my feeble typing skills.

I'd have to say both.Sometimes there will be an answer to a question and I'll say to myself "Wish that I'd have known this back then.
