How can someone spend hours reading and still claim to have a life? Or playing golf? Or scuba diving? Or raising a pet? Just because it's on the internet it doesn't mean it can't be a hobby.

It is called Self-delusion.
Most of us are quite good at it and can apply it to some aspect of our lives.
What can be done? In my experience it takes a big wake-up call, like the wife walking out with the kids and the silverware to even get some guys to notice that life is bigger than the computer monitor.
This technology is still relatively new to mankind. I am hopeful that we will find ways to wean ourselves off of this and back onto physical interaction to some degree.

I have chronic insomnia. If I'm not up playing piano, I'm here at the computer. I love Yahoo Answers because it creates a whole new world for me to express my thoughts. I do have a job and social life, but I'm happy here.
