You are making an incorrect assumption here. It is not that we cannot do anything, but rather that we are exercising the options available. The first option should never be military in nature. At this time we are allowing the diplomatic process to function by leaving the situation in the hands of the United Nations. The fact that diplomacy may not have the desired effect does not mean that it should not be utilized. We cannot just invade any country we choose without consequence. For evidence review world opinion regarding our handling of Iraq even though we over explored the diplomatic channels before taking military action there.

Timing my friend, taken at the right place at the right time is crucial for success. Iran's belligerance and aggressiveness will just hasten the invasion. I am not against any sensible nations having a nuke. Russia . US. GB. China, India.
Pakistan, France, almost all have a nuke arsenal. Can anyone sleep peacefully if a suicidally inclined Islamic nation like Iran have a nuke toy to play with ? I can bet you that the first thing they will do is try it out on Israel to see whether it works or not. As the biggest threat is to Israel, I wouldn't be surprised if one day, a bomber will go in knock everything out
and the next day seem as if nothing happened. End of program, end of threat, end of aggressiness and end of war.

Because the world knows that they would be hypocritical to do anything. Lets face it - the US armed Israel with Nukes, watched as India and Pakistan developed them, invaded Iraq on false grounds of developing WMDs and now they want to stand up and act as the moral policeman regarding Iran! To stop Iran developing nuclear power for peaceful purposes would folly. The other reason is they can't afford another war and more so they can't afford to have Iranian oil supplies cut off.
