That depends on what intention this was uttered in the first place. I have heard my gay friends use that jokingly on each other. Other times, when a stranger tells you it's so gay, as if to sneer at the fact, that's offensive. I guess it's a matter of how one uses the phrase. Personally I believe it is derogatory.

I don't say that because I'm sure it does offend some people. It's become a generalization. When most say that, they don't mean gay in the literal sense. The term "gay" used to mean happy. Now it means homosexual. ...if I disagree with something I just flat out use the word Bullsh*t. LOL

I don't find it offensive, although I don't use the term myself. It's just another example of the word "gay" changing its meaning over time. I don't really think my friends are rabid homophobes when they describe "Everybody Loves Raymond" as "completely gay". I sure would like to commit a hate crime on Ray Romano, though.

yes, of course it is. because it's being used as a derogatory. you said it in your question "when referring to something they don't like or disagree with..."
people who don't like gays equate gay with bad...and use the word "gay" to mean bad. so, naturally it is offensive.

It doesn't bother me, I actually say it pretty often myself. I really don't think people mean anything truly against the LGBT community by saying it.

Not really offensive, I say it all the time, though mostly because I sort of picked it up from the idiots around me. I know when it is said it isn't meant as slander against gay people. I do find it amusing when someone says it and then looks at me and gets all apologetic. "Oh sorry..." I laugh at them.

Extremely.
But, I support free speech. The way I see it, if someone talks like that, they don't want to be friends with me. Which is fine.
It is too bad that more folks don't try to follow the golden rule.
Go with God.

Yes it is because it is giving the word "gay" a negative connotation.
