OMG, this is so ..... I just got done answering another question about someone I know with same name. No, they are only being polite. If you said, Well, I'm gonna go home and blow my brains out because..., would they say Oh, my God , don't do that. Come home with me........Well, that's happened to me several times in my life where I have brought people home that have said that and put them to bed in the guest room and watched over them. 'Course I also have a very loving, intuitive Weimaraner as well (dog). To date, 4 people. Only one of them lied to me and robbed me. Guess I just misjudged his character. But the dog didn't. To this day his arm is scarred because he tried to open my bedroom door. Oops, sorry. Got a habit of getting carried away. Bottom line, 3 decent people went on, and I made 1 mistake. But the dog didn't.

it is a polite thing to do, but, these days it is difficult to tell how genuine the asker actually is.
