I'm Welsh so the majority of my calls end in 'hwyl!'
Bub-bye is a lazy way of saying bye-bye which in turn comes from goodbye.
Bye means nothing by itself but that doesn't stop the lazy ones trying...bye!

it is also a form of speech impediment, yes, it does mean bye bye - but bub bye is just the way some people speak. Whether it is in their accent or the fact that they were not taight to speak properly.

It's bye-bye, and probably said as a more informal gesture....much like 'night-night' when you are saying goodnight to a small child.

its just up to personal preference. i just say bye and hello. if u say these words u ask of maybe u should be asking yourself the question!
maybe its due to trying to make the caller feel comfortable and its kinda like baby talk.

Wasnt it someone like Cheggers who used it a lot in the 80's and some people mimic it?
