No ,but I think the world is in bad enough shape that we cannot afford to believe in the fairy tales that religion has taught us for so long.It causes people to abdicate reality for ignorance. This is not conducive to the accurate and logical thought that problem solving requires.Religions of the world ,shape up and get with the times ,stop b u l l s hi tt ing or ship out.The only savior we need is our own constructive thoughts and actions .Unless of course you like ecological diaster, war, famine etc...

Science proves that the assumptions of many religions are wrong. We have seen that in the last centuries the growth of science has led to less people being religious. So I agree that to some extent religion is replaced by science (at least in Western-Europe)

But science cannot solve all the problems. It does not answer the questions: Why am I on this earth? What goals should I have in my life? What is a good way of living? What happens after death? Why do people get cancer, why does war exist? Religion can answer these questions, and will stay important for many people.

Religion is already a science, like Scientology and any group that exists has made their story up to co exist with the others so that they can take in more and more members who fall prey to the ideas that already exist about why and how things came to be. It is a science right down to what will happen to you if you do not believe. Remember these stories have existed for thousands of years and it is only with the retelling of them in spoken and written form that they continue to exist. It is the scientific theory of existence and the telling of it that is the ttue science here. Do you believe in what some guy said two thousand years ago, many do and they keep telling the story, the facts are in the telling. If you can prove a scientific theory through mathematics then the numbers speak for themselves as do the number of people who keep telling this story so yes religion is a science based on numbers. When you consider who some of the speakers are as well the numbers are made even stronger.

No. If religion replaced science then no-one would have anything to believe in, and if science doesn't solve anything then the human race won't progress if there is nothing to believe in.

I think the beauty of it is that for every problem solved and question answered, a new one arises. It is in recognition of these continuing wonders that for me, "religion" exists. I cannot support a "random accident" theory for creation. There is obviously far too much order, design and intent in the physical universe we know than "chaos" could provide. Science is not religion, but it should be a strong aly of.

i think science is a religion nowadays but the big problem is that although science is constantly solving problems it seems to create twice as many as it solves!
i.e for each problem solved it throws up another 2/3/4 questions! xx
