...if so, what was it like, and what did you do with the urn afterwards? I don't know if I would like to keep it after the spreading; it seems as though it would be like just keeping the ashes anyways.

Yes...my husband's ashes were spread by me in a family ceremony in a beautiful field near an Old Stone Church in Kansas. It was his wish.....It was one of the most difficult things I EVER had to do in my life....but it was what he wanted, so I did it. I did not keep the urn....I gave it to the funeral home to dispose of. I no longer live in Kansas, but when I think back....I have a peaceful feeling because it was done with respect.

my parents spread my grandma's over some mountains, because she wanted to be spread soon after death their was no urn just a box. you should put flowers in the urn to keep the spirit alive

yes. my grand mom's. went to this particular river that she liked and spread the ashes. after that we placed the urn in the river. we didn't want to take it with us.
