it could just be break dust, go and get ur breaks sorted asap because it cold also be worn break pads which means u are down to metal which could cause irreversible damage.

Yeah, you probably need new brakes!! Also, you will probably need new rotors at this point. That grinding sound may very well be the metal on the inside of the brake pad grinding away the rotor. That's what happens when you wait too long to change the pads. Will likely run you about $100-$200 each, depending on the car you drive.

the sound you are getting may not be coming from the grit or a stone in your break pad. usually if you get that sound is an indication that your pads are completely finished and due to the direct metal contact between the pad metal and the disk you are hearing that sound. please change your break pads or break liners before you have a major damage to your cars breaking system

Hi
This is likely to be either worn pads or, as you say, a foreign body (behave!!).
It could also be reverberation caused by the brake pad vibrating against the caliper piston at a very high speed so causing a high frequency squeal, and this is fixed with the use of copper grease. You'll have the neighbourhood dogs chasing you if you don't get it fixed!!
Cheers
Geordie

Could be a bit of grit, could equally be worn pads. Whatever, get 'em checked NOW, you can't afford to have any doubts with brakes.

Check out your brake pads now
you will only damage the brake
discs, and have possible brake
failure because you will be running metal
to metal, and could end up costing you dearly.

I just had a similar problem with my brakes, I took them apart to see... the pads were fine but the adjuster (spring) and gear was shredded. Something had gotten in there and tore it apart. It was a very cheap fix and easy to do myself after ordering the parts.
