Actually if your unemployement benefits expire your no longer considered unemployed even if you don't have a job. When Unemployed one has to fill out several places they have applied for a job during any given week. If Those aren't filled out then they aren't looking so they won't get an unemployement checking which means they are no longer considered unemployed.

If you stopped signing on at the Job Center and were not claiming any benefits you would be considered to be employed, or so rich that you don't need any government assistance. It's not the fact that you stopped looking for work, it's the fact you no longer require any assistance from the government

No you are still unemployed, but since you stopped looking for work. You are no longer eligible for unemployment pay.

By taking yourself out of the workforce, you would no longer be unemployed.

Good question. I feel unemployed. I make money buying at auctions and selling on e-bay. I don't feel this is my job. I did this when I was employed, unfortunatly my extra income has become my only income.

Economists prefer to use the term "discouraged worker" to describe someone who has stopped looking for work after a legnthy period of being unable to find work.

yes if you dont look for work you must be getting an income from somewhere so you are technically working
