Hi buddies

I received a job offer from an international company in Dubai so I am investing living in Dubai as a single woman. I know that it is an Arabic country so idea of working women in technology fields must be sort of new there. But my main questions are:

1- How is it like to live there as a single woman?
2- Is it safe enough?
3- Is it socially accepted or I will be more like deserted rare specie?
4- What are the most important challenges for working women there?

P.S. I know, I asked a lot of question. But anyone who answers it will be queen of this subject, in my point of view ;) And please be honest, comparing to the surrounding Arab countries, Emirate has came so far. But realistically it may take more time to accept independent women.

1. I was then a single working woman with no family when I was in Dubai. I also knew of a lot of women working in the fields dominated by men who are respected by their male colleagues. In general, living as a single independent woman in Dubai is okay. Not bad, with some downside of course. This varies with the kind of people you will be interacting with.

2. Yes, it's safe enough for as long as you don't go walking up and down the streets at late night. Personally I'm scared to go out at night in the downtown area if I'm alone because there is a huge disparity with the number of men and women walking down the streets.

3. Viva Independent Women! You won't be a rare specie in Dubai, Im' sure

4. Since "work" is predominantly a "male" area, sometimes it does take a lot of struggle plus you need to throw in some confidence and patience to counter the male ego. Nevertheless, show your worth, and they'll respect you for what you're worth.

Good luck!

1- How is it like to live there as a single woman?
>>Very good, and have equal (or a bit more) rights than men.

2- Is it safe enough?
>>Very safe, more safer than any recent advanced city.

3- Is it socially accepted or I will be more like deserted rare specie?
>>You will even have more attention than others .. Women are perfectly fine and can do whatever they want here.

4- What are the most important challenges for working women there?
>>Mmm.. I guess French kissing & wearing unappropriate clothing(very short) is restricted on streets/roads .. but, on the other hand, everything will work fine!

Many N.Americans, Europeans, Asians, Africans, and other Arabic nationalities are here.... So you will blend in with the multicultural city perfectly...

UAE locals are very kind and respectful too, so don't worry.
