So my period was late, and I took two preg tests tonight and they were both positive. My ovulation date was around the eight of this month and my last period started on Feb. 23rd. I got worried when my period was late but I hadn't had any signs of being pregnant, except for just being worried. I recently broke up with a serious boyfriend after I found out that he had been cheating. But the baby isn't my ex's. The father is a man I slept with a few times when I was extremely intoxicated. I've been really stressed out and kind of depressed for the past few months. I have been heavily drinking as well as smoking, to cope with all of the stress which I know isn't healthy. Since I have been pregnant, even though I didn't know it, I have been drinking excessive amounts of alcohol as many as three to four nights each week. Also since I have been a bit depressed, I haven't been eating lately and I've even lost some weight. Could my baby already have serious health problems?

You should go to a doctor. Tell him/her what you have been doing and if they can run any tests or do an ultrasound to make sure the baby is ok. Stop drinking and try to at least cut back on your smoking. Start taking some prenatal vitamins and eat right. You should tell the father too. He has a right to know that he's going to have a child. Try to relax, being stressed is not good for you or the baby. Go for a walk, take a warm bath, read a book, watch a movie, go out with friends (not to a bar). Chances are you havent harmed your baby yet being that you're so early in pregnancy. But stop the bad habits now are you will definitely end up harming an innocent child.

Most of us have did things (such as drinking and smoking) before we knew we were pregnant. Things should be okay if you stop drinking and smoking now. Smoking has more long term results. Your doctor may suggest cutting back on your smoking or if you can give it up all together. If you don't mind me asking how do you know it's not your exs? You may find out that you may have to have a dna test. The risk to the baby is cut down extremely if you quit smoking. Some people have had healthy babies while smoking, but that is not everyone. The risk are there and I can't say there is none. Try to eat and you may have to have some counseling or consider adoption if you find you are not able to handle having a child. Also, if you haven't, make sure you get checked for std's as some can effect the child outside after born and in utero. Hopefully things are okay, but as you only took the pregnancy test it may not be ruled out. Hopefully everything is okay and I'm not trying to scare you, but it's the reality of the situation.

Make an appoint with the doctor right away. I had a friend, over 9 years ago, who drank excessively during "wedding season" which turned out to be almost every weekend for more then a month. She didn't realize she was pregnant and was scared to death that the baby might be effected. because it was the first month (even though the first trimester is the most crucial) of her pregnancy, she was really really scared. The doctor did some test and said she was fine and the baby was fine. She stopped the drinking the second she found out she was preggy. Now she has a happy & healthy and perfect boy that is 9 years old.

Depending on your circumstances.. I'm sorry to hear that you're pregnant. OR Congratulations!!! During the first 2 months of my pregnancy I was smoking (cigarettes), eating pain pills and Xanax like M&M's, along with barely eating at all. And my daughter was and is perfectly healthy. So, I'm pretty sure that you're safe right now. Although I have NO clue about alcohol, but I'd assume you're still ok. Just make sure you are completely honest with your doctor.

For the record, I had NO clue I was pregnant at the time. And I did a complete 360 when I found out.

You say you are alone - but you're not! Your baby is there with you. Do yourselves both a favor and get healthy! Your baby doesn't have the choice to eat, drink, and grow well. You are making that choice for her. Please make the right choice. Stop drinking and smoking. And, don't be depressed, you have created a beautiful human being that is growing inside of you. What a precious gift! She needs you so much right now. Take good care of her! You can do it!

its highly unlikely it has only been about a month.. right now the baby can live off your fat and not so much what you eat and take into your body. Look at it this way, how many people party it up and then a month or 2 later realize there pregnant and their babies are just fine...... its after the forst 4 weeks or so that you really need to start taking care of yourself. usually about the time you know your pregnant anyways... back off the drinking... idk if it was pot or cigs but stop the pot or cut back on the cigs.... i fully believe that barring any other medical problems your baby will be prefectly healthy

You shouldn't be drinking and smoking when you are pregnant because it could affect your baby. You should also tell the guy you slept with that he might be the father of your baby cuz you don't want your baby to not know its dad. You should quit drinking & smoking so you don't kill or hurt your baby's health

Maybe, but I think it's not to late,if you stop NOW. Tell "daddy" to start setting aside that child support money too. If he isn't too happy about it tell him it's the perils of acting like an adult. Sometimes you actually have to be an adult, that's reality.
