Suge, I gotta say, the current rap artists cannot hold the **** of some of the guys from the '90's. My friends still make fun of me for my current soundtracks consisting of Tupac, Biggie, Bone Thugs and Dr. Dre. The West Coast rap in the '90's was particularly impressive. But now a days, it's like rap is just a joke. The dirty south is ruining it. It's ALL about the beats for too many artists anymore, not about the lyrics and the message. And then you have so many clowns trying to be hard like gangster rappers of the past decade.

I have always been very interested in how different, if at all, rap would be now if Tupac and Biggie were still here. Those guys were legends, and I'm sure they would have greatly influenced and continued to impact the genre. It's very sad and disappointing to me that their lives were cut so short because both were still in the primes of their music careers. Now Tupac was a work horse and still managed to produce so many tracks that they are still being released today...but Biggie just didn't have the same quantity out at the time. He still managed to represent the East Coast better than anyone, though.

Not only did those two have excellent talent, but they were also true OG's. And while I sit here as your typical white (Italian) college student, my point here is that the source of the music adds credibility. I love rap because it pumps me up and gets my adrenaline going. No other artists can achieve this like Tupac and Biggie, because they all have this artificiality connected to them, something that those two never had. Because they were REAL.

Do something about this Suge! Bring back the old West Coast style rap of the '90's. The laid back but at the same time, passionate rap that no longer exists just over 10 years later. I want to listen to some new tracks that make me feel like I'm soaking in the California sun all the way over here in New York. Instead, I have to listen to the same rap, over and over again (although I'll be the first to admit that it will never get old - in fact, it ages very well as I'm sure you're aware of).

I agree. as we communicate's rap song has lost that categorical flare that artists from the previous had. To on the present time there hasn't been yet another DMX, GFK, etc. They own their personalities and no you're able to duplicate it, lest they be accused of biting. maximum those clowns out now-a-days have not something to speak approximately. The song has grew to become from memories of the gutter, personalities from the gutter to who has a extra physically powerful rap variety. that can provide clowns an risk to get into the interest and make a humorous tale of hip hop song. Now there are little suburbanite young ones (of all races) thinking they'd rap. Rap is from the gutter and would stay there imo. i don't care how lots bud you blaze or how rapidly you may rhyme words.that don't impress me in any respect. What impresses me it the reality which you would be able to convey your subject concerns and if i will relate to it. rap skills advise not something if your asserting not something.

i like both but they are really different. i would have to say that i like the rap from the 90's quite a big better but the beats are really different. todays rap makes you want to dance but 90's rap relaxes me alot more and makes more sense. rap is the same as rock, the old stuff will always be better and it will be the onld stuff that influences new rappers. i was born in the 90's so that might be part of the reason that i like some of the new stuff too but the 90's rap seemes soo much more honest

Artist tried harder to be different and creative. They weren't scared to not fit in.
