Pakistan cricketers DNA tested in murder probe

Pakistan's World Cup cricketers provided DNA samples on Friday as Jamaican police probed the murder of their coach Bob Woolmer and awaited results of tests on his body for more clues on how he died.

The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Nasim Ashraf, stressed no member of the Pakistan team was suspected by police of Woolmer's murder on Sunday.

The team had been through "unbelievable stress and trauma" and simply wanted to fly home as soon as possible, he said. A team spokesman said they would return on Saturday.

On Thursday night, Jamaican police had revealed that Woolmer, 58, one of the most famous figures in the game, had been strangled.

The news sent shock waves through cricket -- a sport still concentrated in former British colonies -- and completely overshadowed the action in the ninth edition of the 32-year-old tournament.

For the second day running on Friday, the Pakistan team assisted the police inquiry, giving DNA samples having been interviewed at length and fingerprinted the day before.

"Our main concern now is the safety and welfare of the Pakistani team in Jamaica," Ashraf told a news conference in Islamabad. "My earnest desire and effort at this time is that the team comes back and joins their families.

Very-very difficult question it is. Everyone is suspecting bookies &/or match fixing mafia. All bookies belong to INDIA ONLY. This angle is being overlooked selectively. The way he was killed is the quick killing style utilized by Indian black cat commandoes or Mossad commandoes, both active in many parts of India. It is possible that someone belonging to the bookie ring took training from India did & vanished with full complicity of the hotel staff, completely evading security network by utilizing heavy amount of money. As Woolmer disclosed in his last e-mail that he was going do disclose secrets of match fixing in a book, the bookies ( all from India did the trick). Here ICC Security, ACU, ICC itself & BCCI come under cloud. Indian members of ICC must be aware of the fact b coz they did successfully the trick to keep out Shoaib, Asif, Shabbir, Razzaq & Afridi( from two matches) to reduce the chance of Pak team & boost Indian chances to be alive through over a year long processes through propaganda & other dirty tricks. Moreover, Dalmia-Pawar tussle is well known. There was an effort to remove Gavaskar from ICC to be replaced by Majid Khan b coz of his gross bias against Pakistani players particularly against Shoaib Akhtar. Pak players were dope tested but never Indian players, why ? About match fixing Shri Bindra already said so many things on Indian TV channels, few years ago. Nobody is talking about ICC security measures taken up. What about ACU ? India cannot be cleared as bookies belong to India only. In coffee houses of Delhi & Mumbai people r already talking of some corrupt members of Indian govt. agencies' possible involvment in the scandal to save bookies of India. Those may be dirty rumours but people's confidece forces to believe many that certainly there is an element of truth. I pray God to open the truth at the earliest.
