I've been told by others who have tried Depo-Provera and then went off that it could take about a year for the period to return but I would recommend checking with your dr to be on the safe side.

Usually takes about a year to start regulating again, but may slightly longer for your body to fully get rid of the depo from the system. So don't panic if you dont conceive straight away.

Good luck x

I had just one shot on 15.08.06 (uk dates) and started the contraceptive pill mid way through march 07. I had no regular cycle. Me and my partner would love a child, but were also aware that I could do with having regular cycles again. I asked my doc weither starting the pill again would help regulate me and he agreed. So here I am again, on contraception!!!! argh! My doc prescribed me 6 months worth, but suggested to use it for 3-4 months and come off. So here's hoping to regular cycles and happy news in the future.

Perhaps this could be an option for yourself. Yes I know, I too hate the thought of yet again being on contraception, but I'm hoping this will be my last round, and if it works, it will be worth it.

I was on the depo for 2yrs and it took nearly 18months for my periods to regulate after stopping it. I didn't have a period for a year after stopping it and it took 6months before i started having periods every month, it really messes you up.

You don't say how old you are.

I am in my 40s and my gynae warned me that depo can cause early menopause.

I hope all this was explained to you before you agreed to the very fisrt shot.
