Tennis shoes get stinky because of sweaty feet, and they get worse if the shoes stay moist, allowing bacteria to grow. Having two identical pairs of shoes helps, because you can wear them on alternate days, letting each pair dry out on its day off. Canvas shoes breathe better and stay cooler than leather or vinyl shoes, and most canvas shoes can be washed. Wearing thick, clean socks helps both your shoes and your feet.

First of all, you probably have foot fungus and whenever you foot sweats, it gets absorbed into your shoes. Use some over the counter products to get rid of the fungus, keep your feet clean all the time too. Buy a second pair of shoes...same kind if you like so nobody would notice....and alternate them so the other one will get some time to dry before you wear it again. You should fill a sock with a little bit of baking soda and keep it in your shoes overnight...that should take care of some odor. I at least put my shoes in the washer for a cold wash with mild detergent three times a year....don't put them in the dryer though. Not that mine smell but it's good to keep them clean. If it's sunny out, I usually take all my shoes and let them sit in the afternoon sun...whatever bacteria, fungus, or what have you living in there....the sun will surely take care of it.

I used to have stinky tennis shoes as well, but I learned to never wear 100% cotton socks while wearing them. If your shoes fit snugly you should consider getting synthetic material socks. Your shoes won't smell, you won't get blisters, and your feet won't stink either.

Wear your socks as they absorb the moisture that comes from your feet that makes your tennis shoes stink.

Try keepin them dry. Don't put them in the shoe rack as soon as you remove them, instead leave them for sometime in the sunlight.

Soap, water, clean socks.
Some combination of those three will fix things up.
