Could it be Travis Tritt's "Here's a quarter, call someone who cares"? That's is the only song that comes to mind that resembles the one you are talking about. Even though I don't know a lot of country music this one popped in my mind when I read your question. Some of the lyrics are: You say you were wrong to ever leave me alone.
