You seem like a nice young lady, so I'll refrain from saying what really comes to mind..

They're stuck-up jerks that think the world should revolve around them, and they believe they're better than everyone else.

Actually, they don't realize it and intend to apologize to the world upon they're discovering they inconvenienced others.

because their car is worth parking in two stalls... regardless of whether that last statement is true or false, I think it is either for protection or selfishness.

Explanations:
for protection--some people do park this way to avoid those dreaded parking lot dings and dents that are usually caused by other cars doors opening and hitting your car.

selfishness--some people for one reason or another, perhaps they are in a hurry, they can't see the line, they're too lazy or they just don't care.

What also doesn't help is rules and regulations that make changes to our parking stalls. More and more businesses are making parking stalls conform closer to 'compact' cars. Especially since the (large) SUVs are quite popular nowadays...

Tickets are given if it's a patrolled area. Either police or security guards can and will give you a ticket.

I'm the other sort of prat, who sees the half a space next to a car parked like this, and takes it as a challenge. I drive a small car with a big sunroof.

I often come back to see someone standing by their car, wondering how they're going to get in the door that I have parked 2 inches from.

They tend to look genuinely embarrassed as I climb onto the roof roof of my car, and then down throught the sunroof into my seat.

Oh, what fun.

It is either they have 'criss-cross eye' (can't see the line) or they are just plain selfish but I will buy more of the second one. There was once this car at my sister's workplace car park and this a**hole parked his car cutting into the next parking lot hence taking up two space.

Guess what someone did? He wrote on a piece of paper - Look how you park your car a**hole, and place it under the wiper. Guess some people should be taught a lesson.

Yes, in most places you can get a ticket for parking in two spots. Especially if it's metered parking. There are two basic reasons for parking in two spots. Either the vehicle is too big for one spot, and/or the person is afraid to maneuver in the small space of one spot, or they think that by taking two spots, there is less of a likely hood that someone else will bump their car.

I don't believe you can get a ticket for it unless the property has hired their own security. A lot of people do it so others don't park next to them and possibly damage their cars, or because they want to be jackasses.

I don't like it either but for the most part they think more of there car than the inconvinance they cause others. Very selfish people. I know there are times I'd like to kick there door in but that is just a thought I wouldn't do it. But it is a pain and I'm sure you already know that. Selfish and to materialistic. Thats what they are.

whilst i grew to become into youthful i needed to key the vehicle. (by no skill did nonetheless) now i desire i'd desire to park in the back of them so they'd't get out. i understand that they in all risk park that way because of the fact they don't want their doorways getting dinged via autos parking next to them. yet whilst that's the case they'd desire to park on the some distance end of the lot.

Protect it? I try to hit the cars parked like that! It's ignorance and arrogance. Not as a racist, but most black people park this way. Why? 500 years of oppression crap again? I just bought a new knife,I hope they expect flat tires with flat arrogance.

Probably had a very full bladder. Kidding aside, i guess those people are just selfish. No problem with that-karma will catch up with them one way or the other.
