Personally, I'm not fond of having pools of blood and other proteins left behind on the chair when I sit for a bit. Not to mention blood isn't exactly easy to get out of most fabrics. I like my non-red clothes to remain non-red.
We wear them because we menstruate. When we aren't impregnated our body sheds the blood and protein lining built up in our uterus each month. It comes out of our vaginas. It can be very messy. We can use tampons but they tend to leak so even a thin pad is a good back-up.

Do u know what menstruation is??? a monthly thing that women have wherein blood seeps out and women have to wear the napkins to protect themselves from being embarrassed as this blood can stain their clothes

because blood, urine, bodily discharges can leak out and they don't want to ruin their underwear or have to change them when they can just change a pad

In my opinion, they're so old-fashioned.
But we may use them for possibly 'back-up' to a tampon, or even alone.
